Robert M. Bennett
I started taking pictures with a Yashica-Mat TLR Camera at about 13 years of age. Black and white film. Developed it myself. Made contact prints. It was fun. I lost interest in photography until a took a trip to Yosemite and discovered that my wife captured better and more interesting images than I could achieve. I started taking classes, reading, and experimenting. I took volumes of pictures to implement what I had learned. I continued primarily being a landscape photographer. My skill improved as I better understood the tools and how to apply them.

I started entering the San Diego Fair about 8 years ago with images captured with a digital 3 megapixel camera. I had some success each and each year thereafter had more of my images accepted at the fair. My formal photography education continued and about 4 years ago, I started to receive honorable mention awards at the fair.

Early in 2008, I decided that I wanted to learn how to capture images of people. To accomplish that objective, I joined several photography groups that focused on models. In the last few years, I have captured about 10,000 images, read many recommended books on people photography, and continue to take classes and workshops. Today, it's not just about capturing images. My interest has evolved into an effort to capture a feeling, a mood, an emotion, an experience.
